Rika 5000 sharpening stones are used for sharpening knives on Hapstone and Edge Pro knife sharpeners. Rika stones are made of aluminum oxide. All Rika stones are 5-6mm thick and are mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks.
Rika is part of Suehiro traditional Waterstone series which includes Kouga 3000, Rika 5000, Shiramine 6000, W8 8000 (Junpaku) and G8 8000 (Takeiro). These stones are not available in a wide range of grits. Traditional series does not compose the set of even progression but offers "repository" of premium stones to make a custom stone set.
Rika 5000 utilizes relatively soft bonding and offers high performance and good feedback.
Rika 5000 is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase.
Rika 5000 should be used with water as a lubricant. Soak Rika stone in the water for 5 minutes before use. Never store Rika stones in water. Never dry Rika stones near heat.
