Shipping policy
Delivery date
Please note that the estimated delivery times provided for your orders are only approximations and not guaranteed delivery dates. While we strive to process and ship your orders promptly, the actual delivery timeline is subject to the performance of third-party shipping carriers such as USPS and UPS. As these carriers operate independently, we have no control over their delivery schedules, and unforeseen delays may occur. We appreciate your understanding and patience in these situations, and we will do our best to assist you in tracking your order and resolving any issues that may arise.
Shipping address
Please be sure the address you provide during checkout is correct. We will not be able to change the address after your order has been shipped. If you have made a mistake, contact us immediately.
Domestic shipping
Domestic orders are shipped from Gritomatic U.S. warehouse by USPS and UPS.
Shipping costs and sales tax are automatically calculated during checkout.
Free shipping for Continental US orders $50 and up. PO Boxes may be not eligible for free shipping.
All shipments have a tracking number and can be tracked soon after the order is sent.
Sometimes a USPS status can be misleading: the parcel could be in the post office but its status is "delivered" (it can happen when the postman’s work shift ends). First of all, please check whether the delivery address is correct. If it's correct, please recheck your mailbox, check postal notices, and then ask your neighbors. If you cannot locate the parcel, and it's not delivered by the next working day, please visit the postal office or ask your postman.
International shipping
Attention.Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) is no longer active in Gritomatic.
If your order cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address or is left unclaimed (including failure to clear customs in your country) and returned to us, we will issue a refund after deducting the shipping and return costs.
Orders to Canada
Please review the shipping method carefully before placing an order to Canada. Shipping charges paid at checkout do not include Canadian import duties, GST/HST/PST, UPS brokerage fees, or other import-related charges unless explicitly stated otherwise. These charges, when applicable, are collected from the recipient by the carrier, broker, or Canadian authorities.
USPS / Canada Post is usually the least expensive shipping option. However, it can also be slow and unpredictable. Tracking may stop updating for several days while the parcel is in transit or being processed, and delivery delays can be significant. Please choose USPS / Canada Post only if you are prepared for a long delivery time.
UPS Standard shipments to Canada may involve UPS brokerage fees collected directly from the recipient before delivery. These brokerage fees are separate from shipping charges, customs duties, GST/HST, and PST. Duties and taxes are government charges, while brokerage fees are charged by UPS for customs clearance service.
Canadian recipients may be able to avoid UPS brokerage fees by self-clearing the shipment with CBSA and paying any applicable duties and taxes directly to the government. Self-clearing must be arranged by the recipient with UPS/CBSA before delivery. A detailed third-party guide is available here: How to avoid UPS brokerage fees in Canada.
In short, self-clearance usually means contacting UPS after import charges appear, requesting the customs documents needed for self-clearance, visiting a CBSA Inland Office, paying any applicable duties and taxes directly to CBSA, and then sending the proof of payment/release document back to UPS so the package can be delivered.
If you cannot self-clear the shipment or cannot visit a CBSA office when required, we recommend choosing UPS Expedited instead of UPS Standard. UPS Expedited usually includes routine customs brokerage in the shipping fee, which helps avoid unexpected UPS brokerage charges at delivery. Duties, GST/HST, and PST, if applicable, may still be collected separately.
Canadian import taxes vary by province or territory. Most Canadian customers should expect to pay GST/HST and, in some provinces, PST or other provincial sales tax. You can estimate the applicable sales tax using the official CRA calculator: GST/HST calculator and rates.
Special warning for Russian-origin products. Canada has withdrawn Most-Favoured-Nation tariff treatment from goods originating in Russia and Belarus, which generally results in a 35% customs duty on such goods. Canada also maintains sanctions and import restrictions affecting certain Russian-origin goods, including some aluminum products, steel products, diamonds, and diamond-related products.
This may affect Canadian customers purchasing Russian-made sharpening products or brands historically associated with Russian manufacturing, including TSPROF, Venev, and KakBritva. Even when a product is available for sale in our store, Canadian customs treatment may differ from ordinary imports, and additional duties or import restrictions may apply.
