Description

Gritomatic Sharpening Bench Stones are used for free hand sharpening knives. The stones are made of silicon carbide and are designed for the hardest steels (up to 65 HRC).

It is advisable to use silicon carbide stones for sharpening knives made of hard stainless steel or carbon steel, such as: ZDP-189, ZDP-247, S30V, S35VN, S90V, S110V, 154CM, D2, YXR7, Cowry, S290, S390, K294, K390, M390, Elmax, 154CPM, ATS-34, 440C, AUS-8, AUS-10, A2, BG-42.. Using silicon carbide stones to sharpen knives made of soft steel is not recommended, as it will cause the stones to wear an at increased rate.

Gritomatic Silicon Carbide Stones are preliminary lapped and do not require lapping after purchase.

Gritomatic Silicon Carbide Stones are recommended to be used with water as lubricant. Soak the stone for 5-10 minutes and splash water on the stone's surface to prevent drying.

Came extremely well packaged with no damage. I've heard of others having issues with that and they seem to have taken care of that. The stones themselves are incredible well tuned as far as feedback and texture. They will need to be conditioned as they have about the same friability as a shapton rockstar 320. (I have experience with that stone and it seems to wear at the same rate.) The finish of the 1500 grit is crisp and clean. I love this stone. Thank you guys. It's a joy to use.

This is my first Gritomatic sharpening stone, also my first stone this course I bought it to do the heavy lifting for chisels,plane blades and knife chip and nick repair I like it it's friable enough to help the process of abrading the steel quickly, I was thinking about getting a extra course diamond plate originally figured I'd give this one a shot and I'm glad I did, it came to me reasonably flat also I'm impressed and I'll be replacing another stone or two with Gritomatic stones thanks for the quick shipping.

It struck me as being on the soft side and needed water refreshment fairly often. Those two characteristics I found off-putting for my stone desires (working and feeling like a crystolon coarse or fine, but splash-and-go with water).

Beautiful Stone. This is not your daddy’s sic oil stone….no these stones are more like japanese waterstones. I guess it’s the binder, I dunno if its resin or what, but its solid, its not like old school sic stones that are very porous. It sharpens as a splash n go stone. Ive never seen a cheap sic stone over like 800 grit, and this 2500 grit one is just amazing and its perfect for hard, super steels. Except for maybe rex 121 and maxamet, it will sharpen all your k390’s and 10v. But use it only for your super steels. For some reason if you use it with traditional steels and softer steels and cheap stainless, they actually somehow wear the stone away faster……I dont get it, it must be the filler/binding agent. But other than that, the stone is incredible.

Gritomatic Silicon Carbide Sharpening Bench Stone 1000gr. An excellent stone that I use between the Gritomatic 240 and 2.5k. These 3 stones make a nice progressive experience on the hardest of steels. Good balance of friability and solidness. Check out Jeff Jewel on Youtube for some very informative demonstrations of these stones.

Very pleased with this stone. Excellent stone as with the whole line up Gritomatic offers. Splash and go. True to grit. If your looking to expand past the Norton Cystolons then these are the stones that progress perfectly in structure.
