Spyderco Ceramic Stones are used for sharpening knives on KME and Hapstone knife sharpeners. Spyderco stones are made of alumina ceramic with an extremely high hardness rating. Spyderco Ceramic scarcely wears over time.
Spyderco Ceramic Stones are available in Medium (estimated 800 JIS), Fine (estimated 2000 JIS) and Ultra Fine (estimated 4000 JIS) grits.
Spyderco Ceramic is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase. Spyderco Ceramic stones should be used with oil as a lubricant (oleic acid, WD-40, refined olive oil).
Advantages of aluminum blanks
- If you accidentally drop the stone, it's less likely you break it;
- Much longer life span for the stone after multiple flattening and lapping;
- Easy identification due to laser engraving;
- Reliable clamping for stones of imperfect shape.
Stones mounted on aluminum blanks are thicker than stock KME stones. We recommend using the thickness compensator if you use stones of different thickness.
