Description

Venev Orion Series Set "Sirius" includes six 6" resin-bonded diamond stones: F80, F150, F240, F400, F800, and F1200.

Venev Bonded Diamonds are used for sharpening knives on Hapstone and Edge Pro knife sharpeners. Diamond sharpening stones offer excellent performance in sharpening knives of any steel.

Venev Diamonds consist of a 3mm-thick diamond-bearing plate on an Edge Pro aluminum base. The diamond-bearing plate contains evenly distributed diamond grains with resin bonding. The manufacture of bonded diamonds is more complex than for coated diamonds. Bonded diamonds provide better feedback and give the sharpening stone a much longer lifespan.

The OCB version of Venev Diamonds utilizes a brand-new yellow binder with no abrasive particles in the composition. OCB is available in fine grits only and offers better scratch-free sharpening results.

How to use

Venev Diamonds are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant for the best feedback. The diamond does not absorb water. Splash water on the stone's surface.

Monolayer solid abrasives have 3 numbers: length × width × thickness.
Single-sided abrasives with backing have 4 numbers: length × width × full thickness × thickness of abrasive.
Dual-sided abrasives have 5 numbers: length × width × full thickness × thickness of abrasive #1 × thickness of abrasive #2 (both sides)
If thickness is variable, the minimum thickness is noted.
For curved abrasives, a radius of curvature inmm is added: R40.

I've only used the on a few knives at this point so far , but my opinion of them is they are excellent stones. Getting to the upper grits is they give a beautiful polish with a near mirror finish.I think the 1500stone will get it there. I will buy that stone in the near future All the stones cut well but i find myself using regular diamond stones for the first stages of setting a new edge. If your thinking about getting these. I say go for it .

ITS MY FAULT THINKING MORE MONEY AND A BIGGER NAME IN STONES WOULD EQUAL QUALITY! by the time I used the stones it was past the return window AND I USED THEM to only find the 400/509 dollar stones NOT FLAT, BENT LIKE A RAINBOW.... the metal plate and the resin bonding..... on new to purchasing quality stones, but this six hundred dollars was a lesson learned.

I've used quite a few diamond stones (both resin bonded and electroplated) over the years and these Venev Orion stones are at the top of the food chain. The set of six are all within .010" total of each other in thickness, which makes it very ice when going from one stone to the next in a guided sharpener like the Hapstone RS or R2. No need to adjust for a changing angle. The range from 80 grit to 1200 grit (FEPA) is enough to go from reprofiling a knife to a near mirror edge. So far I've sharpened about six or seven knives and after rechecking the thickness of the stones there is no measurable difference. Not that I expected any considering the quality of these stones, but it's nice to be proven. I would think this set will last decades of heavy use, with only very very occasional resurfacing other than a cleaning stone once in a while. Of course, the finer grits (800 and 1200) glaze slightly in use, but nothing that seems to affect the performance, and a few seconds with a Nagura cleaning stone and t's back to pristine condition. Highly recommended!
