Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust

Description

Hapstone PlaneShift Series includes components of Hapstone RS (such as stone holders or clamp system) adopted for other sharpening systems: PPA, WSPA, KME, Wicked Edge.

Universal Stone Holder for Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust is equipped with a digital angle gauge holder and a stone-changing pin.

Universal Stone Holder allows using ANY rectangular sharpening stones:

6" Professional Precision Adjust diamonds and blanks
6" mounted stones (Edge Pro format-factor)
6" flat-end stones
4" mounted stones
4" flat-end stones

Note. It's very important to keep a sharpening angle consistent. The angle should not change when progressing to the next stone. If the thickness changes, the sharpening angle changes. Unchecked, this can ruin your sharpening. Use a digital angle gauge to monitor the sharpening angle when you replace a stone in the stone holder. Use the angle adjustment knob of the sharpener if necessary.

Postage cost more than the item. Stone holder works OK, but it does not allow full travel as does the Worksharp holder. As a result, only the centre part of the stone can be used, either end cannot be utilised. This is not disclosed in the product information. I can only use 50% of my very expensive Hapstone hybrid diamond stones.

The stone holder rubbed on the Work Sharp PPA guide rod producing unnecessary friction. I disassembled the stone holder and discovered that the tubing that all the parts of this stone holder are attached to was not straight. I straightened the tubing and now the stone holder glides effortlessly on the Work Sharp PPA guide rod. I purchased one of these directly from Hapstone USA and found the tubing to be less straight than the one I purchased from Gritomatic. I was able to successfully straighten the tubing in that one, also.This is a good stone holder and generally well made, but limits the stone travel to less than half of a 6" stone. I later purchased the Leading Edge by Gritomatic 6" Stone Holder for Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust and love it!

Currently working on getting all the kinks out of my setup and using the ruixin pro stones which fit perfectly. Was worried about using flat stones so I am glad for making that decision. I also brought the steel blanks which I intend to use with lapping paper. Still have to order some just not sure which one to get.

No problems with the quality of the Hapstone stone holder. Unfortunately, the rod included with the Professional Precision Adjust is too short to use the entire length of a 6" stone. This isn't really a problem so long as you mark each end of your stone, flip it every couple uses, and keep it flat. It is annoying. I hope Gritomatic will consider selling an extended rod for the PPA to accommodate the various aftermarket stone holders that can't use the entire length of a 6" stone.

Because of the increase in length of this stone holder vs the original WSPPA magnetic holder, there is very limited range of movement if it is used as is. By adding an 1 1/2” screw to the end of the rod I found the range is improved to nearly that of the original. Overall though, nicely made sturdy unit.

This arm is a great improvement over the original arm that came with the professional precision. I can even use the stones that came with the sharpener. The only negative feature is that putting this on the rod allows only about 4 inches of the stone for use. Overall I like it and would highly recommend it!

Hapstone Universal Stone Holder for the Work Sharp Professional The diamond plates that came with the WORK SHARP Professional were ok, I wanted some better-bonded diamond stones and the only way I could do that is to purchase this holder. So I ordered this holder and it works great with the VENEV Series stones.
