We accept returns within 15 days from the date your order was delivered. The items returned must not have been damaged or modified, and must include all original packaging. Abrasive items are eligible for return only if not used (read the abrasive policy below for details). We will contact you to discuss further steps.
If you want to make a return, please send us an email with order #, what items you’d like to return, and the reason you want to return the product (we love feedback).
Damaged or wrong product
If you have received a damaged product, a product with major defects, or a different product to the one you ordered, please take a few photos and send us an email explaining the issue. Let us know whether you want a refund, an exchange or a coupon. After reviewing your case, we will contact you to discuss further steps. We will not ask you to send the product back if doing so is economically unreasonable.
In cases where we do ask for the return, please send your item to us. Do not return items without prior authorization. When returning your item, you will be liable for shipping costs. (It will be returned in case of defective, damaged or incorrect products if the refund is approved.) Please use proper packaging for shipping, and send by regular post.

If the refund is approved, then credit will automatically be made to your credit card or original method of payment within a specified number of days. If you have not received your refund one week after approval, please contact customer support.
Sharpening stones, compounds and other abrasive materials are highly technical, intricate products. All abrasive products are sold "as is". The unexpected or unwanted behavior of the abrasive is not a legitimate reason for return. We do not offer refunds or exchanges for any of our abrasive products if used.
To avoid disappointment, please make sure that you follow these few simple steps:
- Make a deliberate choice when ordering products. Read all available information about the product on Gritomatic. Google extra information if needed – community forums contain a lot of feedback and discussion about our products. Think of a new sharpening stone as your own experiment. And contact our customer support if you are in any doubt.
- Check purchased products immediately after receipt. We guarantee that you will receive new products in perfect condition and with no major defects. We are liable for any damages that occur during transportation. If the purchased products are damaged on arrival, contact us immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot accept "damaged on arrival" complaints if the product has been used or if the damage is reported weeks after your order is received.
- Be ready to remove all minor defects outlined on the product page. If it states here that the stone surface is not flat, do not expect to receive a flat product.
- Take care of your products. Read the "How to Use" information in the product pages, as well as articles about stone preparation and maintenance. Pay attention to product warnings. And read the sharpener manual if you are new to sharpening. This will help you to avoid damaging the sharpening stone or knife.
We try to provide as much information as possible about our products – both positive and negative. Please be aware, however, that human errors do occur. Incorrect or missing information in the product pages and articles is not a legitimate reason for return. If you come across incorrect or missing information, please contact our customer support.
Hapstone Company provides a limited lifetime warranty on Hapstone knife sharpeners. The manufacturer is obligated to replace parts of a product that break or are defective over the life of the product. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of the sharpener and its parts. The customer will be liable for shipping costs.
