$120.00 USD 📊 Grit Chart

Translucent-Black Arkansas sharpening stones are used for finish sharpening knives on Hapstone and Edge Pro knife sharpeners. Translucent-Black is the exotic type of Arkansas stone. Translucent-Black inherits all properties of Translucent Arkansas and Black Arkansas but is more valuable because of its rarity.

Arkansas stones are mined in the Ouachita Mountains in the state of Arkansas in the United States. Arkansas stones are made of novaculite, a naturally abrasive material of high density. Arkansas stones consist of silica, but unlike synthetic abrasives, do not consist of individual abrasive grains of the same size. Arkansas quartz structure consists of fused crystal grains of different sizes.

Translucent-Black Arkansas is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase. Translucent-Black Arkansas stones should be used with oil as a lubricant (oleic acid, WD-40, refined olive oil).

Arkansas stones may have slight natural imperfections.
