CBN Sharpening Stones are used for sharpening knives using Edge Pro sharpeners. CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) is the second-hardest material after diamond.
CBN's qualities include its high levels of high hardness, strength, abrasion resistance, and thermal and chemical resistance. These characteristics exceed the values of synthetic diamonds and conventional abrasives such as silicon carbide and aluminum oxide. In particular, CBN's high thermal stability and chemical resistance make it suitable for sharpening in conditions where synthetic diamonds are not normally employed.
CBN offers excellent performance in sharpening knives of any steel. Due to it's high resistance specs, CBN can be used dry without lubricant. This makes CBN the cleanest of the available sharpening stones.
CBN Sharpening Stones consists of a 2 mm thick CBN-bearing plate mounted on a high-quality aluminum blank. The CBN-bearing plate contains evenly distributed CBN grains with organic bonding.
CBN can be used without lubricants.
CBN stones do not have any minor defects.
CBN stones do not require any preparations
CBN offers high performance, sharpens any steel, has a low wear rate and little loading, creates no mess and makes no unwanted grooves. The catch is the price - it's expensive.
Theoretically, yes. However, sharpening ceramic knives is technically difficult and uneconomical in most cases. CBN stones can cause microchipping when used on ceramics. Consider purchasing a new ceramic knife instead of sharpening it.
Yes and no. We use FEPA to name CBN stones for ease of identification. However, the manufacturer applies national standard GOST 9206 to mark the stone (for example, a 1200 grit stone is marked "3/2").
