Naniwa Super Stone sharpening stones are used for sharpening knives on Hapstone and Edge Pro knife sharpeners. Super Stones are made of aluminum oxide. All Super Stones are 5-6 mm thick and are mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks.
Super Stone utilizes relatively soft resin bonding. Super Stones have high performance and create a perfect scratch pattern but is dishing faster than traditional stones with ceramic bonding.
Super Stone is good for medium hard steels. In order to sharpen soft stainless steels or hard powder steels, consider using Chosera instead.
Super Stone is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase.
Super Stone should be used with water as a lubricant. There is no need to immerse the stone. Just splash, or use a water spray. Never dry Super Stones near heat.
Disclaimer. For international markets, Naniwa uses names "sharpening stone" for Super Stones and "professional stone" for Chosera. Such generic names are confusing. We use more recognizable names "Super Stone" and "Chosera".
