Llyn Melynllyn Whetstones are used for fine sharpening knives on KME or Hapstone knife sharpeners.
Llyn Melynllyn Whetstone was mined in Melynllyn region, North Wales, in the United Kingdom. Estimated grit for the stone is 8000-10000 JIS.
Llyn Melynllyn is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase. Llyn Melynllyn Whetstones should be used with water as a lubricant. All that is required is to wet the stone surface. There is no need to immerse the stone. During the sharpening, a slurry is released from the surface. The more slurry is released, the more abrasive the grinding compound becomes.
Llyn Melynllyn stones may have slight natural imperfections.
