Bester ceramic sharpening stones are used for sharpening knives on KME and Hapstone knife sharpeners. Bester stones are made of aluminum oxide.
Bester utilizes hard bonding to sharpen without dishing. Bester Ceramic stones are universal and are widely considered to be one of the best for fast sharpening knives of any steel.
Bester stones are preliminarily lapped and do not require lapping after purchase.
Bester should be used with water as a lubricant. Soak Bester stones in water for 5 minutes before sharpening. Never store stones in water. Never dry stones near heat.
Advantages of aluminum blanks
- If you accidentally drop the stone, it's less likely you break it;
- Much longer life span for the stone after multiple flattening and lapping;
- Easy identification due to laser engraving;
- Reliable clamping for stones of imperfect shape.
Stones mounted on aluminum blanks are thicker than stock KME stones. We recommend using the thickness compensator if you use stones of different thickness.
