Description

Gunny Juice Polycrystalline Diamond Suspension is a very effective method of honing and polishing the cutting edge of the knife. Gunny Juice is created through a proprietary deionization process offering agglomerate-free dispersion of diamond particles for submicron grits. In conjunction with a very tight particle size distribution, the process permits scratch-free polishing results.

Gunny Juice is available in many grits in 10 ml and 30 ml volume.

The diamond suspension can be used with any strop made of leather, balsa, or nano cloth.

To use, simply pump the desired amount of suspension on your stropping medium, spread evenly, let dry, then use as usual.

You will not be able to fully remove the compound after applying it to the strop. If you want to use your strop both with and without compound, you must, therefore, keep one side clean. If you want to switch between one compound and another, consider buying an extra strop.

Compound residue accumulates in the leather during stropping. If stropping performance gets worse, remove the residue with a knife spine or special tool, and apply the fresh compound.

Particle Size Distribution

Gunny Juice suspension is based on the premium diamond powder of grain that is strictly controlled. Gunny Juice outperforms requirements of national abrasive standards in all key factors of the particle size distribution, such as median range (D50 tolerance), main range (D5 - D95), and largest particle range (D99). Chinese diamond powder and diamond compounds are made in accordance with JB, Russian and Ukrainian - with GOST, American - with ANSI.

REALLY nice diamond spray! To be up front the only compound I’ve ever had experience with before this was the real generic green oxide stuff and Venev diamond paste in 3 and 1 micron (which I’ve read a lot of good reviews on and does do a nice job). The Venev I have loaded on a 2 sided firm leather strop and is free hand. This gunny juice I put on a Gritomatic leather strop mounted on an aluminum plate to use on my Edge Pro apex. So far I used it on my Maxamet Para 2 and super blue Delica and am VERY impressed! As you can see in the pictures it leaves a VERY highly polished mirror like edge. I progressed through the grits on my Edge Pro matrix stones up to 2300 (I don’t have the 4000 yet) and then hit it with my plate mounted Spyderco ultra fine stone and then stropped it with the 1 micron gunny juice. It’s screaming sharp and will easily tree to my leg hairs and blazes through phone book paper like nothing even curving effortless S’s in it. It’s expensive for a little bottle but it takes VERY little to load a strop so toss bottle will be good for many many strops or loadings. Especially when you figure you can get quite a few knives worth of stropping before it’ll need any more loaded up. I put 6 tiny little squirts on my 6”x1” strop and I think it was way too much looking at it. By how little it needs I’d say you’d get at least a couple dozen strops worth out of this little bottle so it’s really quite a bargain when you look at it that way. Especially considering how good it works compared to cheaper stuff.

Skeptical at first, but.. I'd seen videos and examples of how poly crystalline diamond emulsion compares to compound blocks and I was skeptical to how well it would work in polishing and de burring. I purchased some basswood and applied, the applicator made it pretty easy, I used a miniature toothbrush to apply, and after letting dry I tried my first go at stropping. I was amazed at the results. I got a 6 micron, 3 and 1, and I couldn't believe how quickly it produced a mirror. It really works.

The product is great. I can really see the mirror finish on the blades. The pump that dispense the product aren’t that great mine quit working shortly after I loaded the strop which is kind of a bummer cause there is a lot of product left in the bottle.

Probably the best This is likely the best Stropping compound you can get. Dries quickly, is easy to apply, and cuts and performs excellently. The downside is, you pay for the performance. The stuff is pretty pricey, but it should last a decent long time.

FINISHING TOUCH I am a beginner at sharpening my own BM knives. I have purchased the WorkShop Precision, Lansky, some miss diamond plates, and a hand made leather strop. I tried them all but the best combo for me is the WS, then the Gunny Juice 10 mil / 1 to finish it off. As I said, I am a beginner so I haven't gotten to that "hair shaving" sharpness. All my knives are for hard work (plumber) so the Gunny Juice gets the knives as sharp as I need them to be.

I used this 0.5-micron diamond strop "juice" with a balsa wood strop. It works ok, but it doesn't seem to work any better or faster than an aluminum oxide paste. Lately, I've been using a Norton Kuromaku 12k, 15k, 30k progression to get the final edge and the 30k stone works better than any strop I've tried. With the 30k stone as the last stage, I don't need to strop at all.
