Columbia Gorge Stoneworks, Inc. operated by David Scott, the developer of Edge Pro Matrix diamonds, introduced a full line of resin bonded diamonds for knife sharpening.
CGSW Resin Bonded Diamonds virtually don't wear with proper use and are easy to dress when needed. Since they don't break down themselves while sharpening the only mess is the water and swarf from your knife.
CGSW Resin Bonded Diamonds is a premium-level diamond series utilizing CNC machined aluminum plates with molded diamond/resin matrix for the best accuracy and stability. CGSW uses high-quality diamond powder processed in the USA from foreign stock, non-abrasive polymer resin, and 6061 aluminum alloy, both made in the USA. CGSW products are truly American-made.
CGSW diamonds are available in four sizes (8" x 3", 8" x 2", 6" x 2", and KME 4" x 1") and six grit variations (5, 10, 20, 40, 80, and 160 microns).
Note: Micron sizes of CGSW diamond set and Matrix diamond set are slightly different; other than that, they are identical.
CGSW Resin Bonded Diamonds are recommended to be used with water as a lubricant for the best feedback. The resin does not absorb water. Splash water on the stone's surface and keep them wet during use.
We recommend edge-trailing strokes with CGSW diamonds, for many reasons, including being safer for the tips.
Most of the sharpening practices and maintenance guidelines for Matrix diamonds are suitable for CGSW diamonds. Additional lapping is recommended for CGSW diamonds to improve the sharpening result.
