Type: KME Stones
Technical Jasper sharpening stones are used for finish sharpening and honing knives on Hapstone and KME knife sharpeners. Technical Jasper is a naturally abrasive material of high density.
Technical Jasper is mined in the Ural mountains in Russia. Jasper is a dense, opaque variety of cryptocrystalline chalcedony, contains a significant proportion of Fe-oxides and hydroxides. Jasper does not consist of individual abrasive grains of the same size. A Jasper micro-quartz structure consists of fused crystal grains of different sizes.
Technical Jasper stones should be used with honing oil (oleic acid or refined olive oil) as a lubricant.
Technical Jasper stones do not have defects, the surface is uniform.
Jasper stone does not require any preparations. It is preliminarily lapped to ultra-fine grit.
Advantages of aluminum blanks
Stones mounted on aluminum blanks are thicker than stock KME stones. We recommend using the thickness compensator if you use stones of different thickness.
