Q & A

  • Are Shapton Glass stones come from Jende Industries?

Yes, Shapton Glass stones are custom made by Jende. We perform extra flattening and lapping, and mount the stones to different blanks.

  • Which Shapton Glass stones are good for extending Hapstone stone set? Is Shapton Glass 2000 okay as a next step?

The first thing you should consider when combining stones from different brands is grit scale. Gritomatic and Boride use FEPA-F, while Shapton Glass uses a different scale. Shapton Glass 4000 is approximately equal to F 1200. That means that Shapton Glass 2000 will be a step down from FEPA 1200. You should consider Shapton Glass 8000 instead.
