Description

Gokumyo Sharpening Stones are used for sharpening knives on KME and Hapstone knife sharpeners. Gokumyo stones are 20-22mm wide and mounted on aluminum blanks.

Gokumyo is the high-end line of sharpening stones by Suehiro. Gokumyo stones are universal and can be used to sharpen knives of any steel including high carbon, vanadium, and chromium steels.

Gokumyo is preliminarily lapped and does not require lapping after purchase.

Gokumyo should be used with water as a lubricant. Do not soak Gokumyo stones in water. Just splash, or use a water spray. Never store Gokumyo stones in water. Never dry Gokumyo stones near heat.

Designed to mimic the finest natural stones in performance and feel, Gokumyo 20000 is the finest of the Gokumyo series and is designed to provide the finest, sharpest edge without excessive trouble or frustration and for an extremely long time. Exceptionally hard and with low water permeability, this stone does not require soaking before use but will absorb water over time, yet is unaffected by prolonged water exposure due to it's composition, method of manufacture and high density. Advantages of aluminum blanks

  • If you accidentally drop the stone, it's less likely you break it;
  • Much longer life span for the stone after multiple flattening and lapping;
  • Easy identification due to laser engraving;
  • Reliable clamping for stones of imperfect shape.

Stones mounted on aluminum blanks are thicker than stock KME stones. We recommend using the thickness compensator if you use stones of different thickness.
